Palpitations are the sensation that the heart is beating irregularly, or faster or more forcefully than it should, given the level of activity demanded of it. Palpitations may be the symptom of heart disease, an over-active thyroid gland, a food allergy, a high fever. Palpitations brought on by anxiety or over consumption of caffeine are nothing to worry about, unless a heart condition already exists, however when anxiety is a major factor, constitutional treatment is recommended If palpitations are accompanied by chest pains, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, sweating or fainting prompt medical attention should be sought.

Palpitations requires detailed specific prescribing of the "right" homeopathic remedy.

Trial and error or shotgun prescribing does not work, and therefore we don't recommend self-medication. In fact, self-medication will complicate the overall symptom picture.

Homeopathic Treatment Considerations:

Cactus - Violent palpitations, made worse by lying on left side, and distinctly worse just before a period. The person experiences dizziness, shortness of breath and flatulence.
Lachesis - Fainting, constricted feeling in the chest, anxiety, especially during menopause.
Moschus - Palpitations brought on by hysteria or exposure to cold. Person experience trembling heart, weak pulse and fainting.
Natrum mur - Palpitations seem to shake entire body, there is a constricted feeling ion chest, heat and sympathy make symptoms worse.
