In medical terms, shock is produced by a sudden fall in the amount of circulating blood, which leads to a lack of oxygen in the tissues and organs. The symptoms include a weak pulse, shallow breathing, cold, pale skin, fainting and anxiety. The causes of shock cover the whole range of physical and emotional trauma.
If shock follows a severe accident, or if the reason seems incomprehensible, seek medical advice immediately. Meanwhile, keep the sufferer warm and loosen any tight clothing. Do not move him/her if there is a serious injury or he/she is unconscious. Otherwise move the head in a position lower than the body do that the blood drain back to the head.
Give the Rescue Remedy every few minutes. A few drops on the lips can make a world of difference.
Shock has been treated by homeopathy.Trial and error or shotgun prescribing does not work, and therefore we don't recommend self-medication. In fact, self-medication will complicate the overall symptom picture.
Below are only some of the remedies we may prescribe, please note how important the individual symptom picture is. Only when all symptoms, aggravation or amelioration are taken into consideration can a specific homeopathic remedy be selected.
A further consideration is given to the potency of the remedy.

|Aconite - This is the great remedy for terror and fear of death. It is particularly useful if you take it retrospectively to help you recover from a past event or experience that has left you with deep physical or emotional scars.|
|Arnica - This wonderful medicine is the number one remedy for shock, a well as for bruising. In an accident, therefore, it serves a double purpose. In emergencies repeat the dose every few minutes in conjunction with Rescue Remedy.|
