Premenstrual Tension (PMT)
Homeopathic Treatment Considerations

This condition, PMS, also known as premenstrual tension (PMT), can manifest itself in various ways. For several days before a period starts many women find that they suffer from emotional upsets, such as depression, irritability, loss of sexual desire, extreme anxiety, uncontrollable crying and loss of affection for their family.

One or more of the symptoms may be accompanied by weight gain, sore and swollen? breasts, swollen ankles and hands, and headache.

Additionally there may be some pelvic discomfort and low back pain.

PMS has been treated by homeopathy.

PMS requires detailed specific prescribing of the "right" homeopathic remedy.

Trial and error or shotgun prescribing does not work, and therefore we don't recommend self-medication. In fact, self-medication will complicate the overall symptom picture.

Below are only some of the remedies we may prescribe, please note how important the individual symptom picture is. Only when all symptoms, aggravation or amelioration are taken into consideration can a specific homeopathic remedy be selected. A further consideration is given to the potency of the remedy.

Homeopathic Treatment Considerations:

Lachesis mutus - Headache that is at its worst upon waking. The face appears and feels bloated. Tight clothing cannot be tolerated, especially around the neck and waist. Palpitations occur accompanied by a feeling of faintness. Person may feel jealous, vindictive, unreasonable and talks excessively, but all symptoms improve as the period starts.
Natrum muriaticum - As well as feeling irritable, weary, selfish, withdrawn and moody, some may have a binding headache with nausea and often vomiting.
Pulsatilla - A lack of thirst is accompanied by a partial loss of sense of taste. Shooting pains occur in the neck and upper back, very moody and changeable, may cry a lot and want a lot of sympathy. Symptoms are much improved when sufferer is outdoors.
Sepia - Often experience severe headaches, food tastes too salty. A sensation as if the contents of the pelvis are about to drop out. Person may feel cold, totally weary and tired, dislike the family, irritable and feel very sad but can liven up with movement and exercise.
